FX.co ★ Uruguay Posts Record Trade Surplus in June

Uruguay achieved a milestone with a record trade surplus of $408.8 million in June 2025, significantly surpassing the $176.5 million surplus recorded in the same month the previous year. This marks the highest trade surplus since the historical data collection began in 1995. The remarkable performance was propelled by a 31.2% year-on-year increase in exports, which totaled $1.28 billion. This growth was largely attributed to a substantial 61.7% rise in primary goods exports, along with a 10.9% increase in manufactured goods exports. However, there was a 17.4% decline in utility-related exports. Meanwhile, imports increased at a steadier pace of 9.1%, reaching $872 million. This increase was driven by a 4.5% rise in consumer goods imports, a 3.8% rise in intermediate goods, and a slight 0.5% rise in capital goods imports.
