In June 2025, retail sales in the Netherlands experienced a 3.3% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, building on the upwardly revised 2.7% growth observed in May. This represents the twelfth month in a row of retail sales expansion, spurred by increased sales in both the food and non-food sectors. Food sales saw a notable acceleration, particularly in supermarkets, rising by 3.6% compared to 2.4% in May, while non-food items grew by 3.1%, up from 2.9%. Within the non-food category, there was a resurgence in the sale of shoes and leather goods, which rose by 1.4% from a previous decline of 7%, and clothing sales, which increased by 0.6% after a 2.1% drop. However, on a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity dipped by 0.1% in June, maintaining the same rate of decline as recorded in the prior month's revised data.
