Dutch Inflation Decelerates to 2.9% in July

The Netherlands experienced a deceleration in its annual inflation rate, dropping to 2.9% in July 2025 from the previous month's 3.1%, as indicated by preliminary estimates. This figure represents the lowest inflation rate since May 2024. The slowdown is largely attributable to reduced inflation rates in the categories of food, beverages, and tobacco, which eased to 4.1% from June's 4.6%, and services, which declined to 4% from 4.4%. However, there was an uptick in the inflation for industrial goods excluding energy and motor fuels, which rose to 1.4% from 0.6%, and for energy inclusive of motor fuels, which increased to 1% from 0.5%. Monthly, consumer prices are anticipated to rise by 1.3% in July, marking the most significant surge since the same month in the previous year, following a stagnation in June. Concurrently, harmonized consumer prices, which facilitate comparisons within the EU, are expected to grow by 2.5% year-on-year, a decrease from the 2.8% rise observed in the preceding period.
