Rwanda’s annual inflation rate accelerated for the third consecutive month, reaching 7.9% in February 2026, up from 7.5% in January and marking the highest level since June 2025. The increase was driven by higher prices across several CPI categories, notably restaurants & hotels (18.8% vs 18.2% in January), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (15.9% vs 14.9%), education (stable at 10.5%), housing & utilities (8.3% vs 5.9%), transportation (7.1% vs 7.2%), miscellaneous goods & services (5.4% vs 5.3%), and food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.2% vs 5.3%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose by 1.2% in February, following a 0.6% increase in the previous month.
