On a month‑over‑month basis, the “actual” February figure reflects an easing in the contraction relative to the prior month, when the January PMI itself represented a weaker performance versus December.
Although construction output in the eurozone is still shrinking, the incremental rise in the PMI may offer some reassurance that conditions are not deteriorating as sharply as before.
