The FTSE MIB climbed 0.6% to around 50,585 in early Wednesday trading, extending its winning streak to a third consecutive session, with most heavyweight constituents underpinning the advance despite fresh US strikes against Iran. Investors largely looked through ongoing Middle East tensions after Washington launched retaliatory attacks on Iran following the crash of a US Army helicopter. Market focus has now shifted to key US inflation figures due later in the day, which are expected to provide further guidance on the Federal Reserve’s policy trajectory. Attention is also turning to Thursday’s ECB meeting, where policymakers are widely anticipated to deliver a 25-basis-point rate increase. Among the index’s standout performers were Unicredit (+1.4%), Poste Italiane (+1.4%), Leonardo (+1.6%), STMicroelectronics (+2.2%), and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (+1.9%).
