The Swedish economy grew 1.4% quarter-on-quarter in the three months to June 2026, rebounding strongly from a 0.2% contraction in the previous quarter and beating market expectations of 0.7% growth, according to preliminary estimates. This was the fastest quarterly expansion since the first quarter of 2024, driven by robust economic activity earlier in the quarter despite a modest decline in June. According to Mattias Kain Wyatt of Statistics Sweden, the June pullback came after three consecutive months of growth, and overall activity remained well above levels recorded a year earlier. Year-on-year, GDP rose 2.8%, up from 2.0% in the previous quarter and the strongest annual increase since the fourth quarter of 2024.
