The benchmark continued to hover near its highest level since September 7, reached in the prior session, with investors remaining cautious ahead of the Trump–Xi summit later this week.
Sentiment was also restrained as markets tracked developments in the Middle East conflict and their potential impact on oil prices amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions. Supporting risk appetite, Wall Street finished higher overnight, lifted by robust technology shares, while both oil prices and US Treasury yields retreated.
Among individual movers, Colonial Motor rose 1.7%, Summerset Group gained 1.2%, Channel Infrastructure added 1.1%, and Scales Corporation advanced 0.9%. On the downside, Fisher & Paykel, Freightways Group, and Mainfreight slipped 1.2%, 0.6%, and 0.4%, respectively.
