The closely watched meeting, scheduled for September 23–25, is expected to focus on AI, the conflict in Iran, export controls, and supplies of rare earths. Investors are also watching to see whether Beijing and Washington will agree to extend their trade truce before it expires in November.
Market sentiment was further supported by a rally in the Asian technology sector, which tracked gains on Wall Street amid enthusiasm over Meta Platforms’ latest AI agent. Notable movers included SMIC (+1.7%), Hygon Information Technology (+7.5%), Zhongji Innolight (+1.6%), and Victory Giant Technology (+9.2%).
