Mars Petcare US Inc. has issued a recall for its 44 lb. bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food owing to the potential presence of loose metal pieces, as reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall specifically affects 315 bags with a Best By Date of March 4, 2025, and Lot Code 410B2TXT02. These products were exclusively sold at Walmart locations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
This recall is limited to the aforementioned batch, and no other PEDIGREE or Mars Petcare US items are involved.
While the presence of loose metal pieces poses a potential health hazard to pets, there have been no reported injuries or illnesses related to the impacted products. Consumers who have purchased the affected dog food are advised to cease use immediately and contact Mars Petcare US’s consumer care for a return process.
Collaborating with Walmart, Mars Petcare US is actively ensuring that the affected inventory is pulled from all stores in the specified states.
In related animal feed recalls, ADM Animal Nutrition, part of Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. (ADM), recalled several lots of chicken, swine, and rabbit feed in late March and early April due to elevated levels of minerals such as magnesium, sodium, calcium, and phosphorus. Furthermore, in early April, Cargill’s animal nutrition division recalled Nutrena Country Feeds Meatbird 22% Crumble due to a failure to include Vitamin D.
