Lithuania Inflation Rate at Over 1-Year High

Lithuania's annual inflation rate experienced a climb to 4.1% in March 2025, up from 3.5% in February. This represents the highest level since August 2023. The increase was predominantly due to rising costs in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages surged to 4.5% from 3.1% the previous month, household and utilities costs jumped to 3.4% from a mere 0.1%, and there were minor increases in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which rose slightly to 8.7% from 8.6%. Communication costs increased to 3.6% from 2%, and miscellaneous goods and services rose to 4.7% from 3%. Additionally, the recreation and culture sector saw a slight rise to 4.4% from 4.3%. Conversely, there was a deceleration in inflation rates for transport, which decreased to 1.6% from 3.4%, and for furnishings, household equipment, and routine home maintenance, which slid to 0.8% from 2%. The health sector also saw a decrease to 5% from 5.3%, while the deflation rate for clothing and footwear lessened, moving to -0.9% from -1.5%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices showed a slight decline, easing to 0.4% from the previous month's 0.6%.
