In February 2025, Colombia experienced a 1.2% contraction in industrial production compared to the same period the previous year. This downturn followed a 1.9% increase in the prior month, and was contrary to market predictions which had anticipated a 0.8% rise. The sectors most significantly impacting this decline were those producing motor vehicles and engines, which saw a substantial reduction of 34.4%. Other notable declines were observed in the production of leather and fur fabrics (-21.5%), vehicle body construction (-16.3%), the manufacture of vehicle parts and accessories (-14.7%), as well as coking, petroleum refining, and fuel blending (-13.3%).
