Serbia Current Account Gap Widens Sharply in April

In April 2025, Serbia experienced a marked increase in its current account deficit, reaching $748 million, a sharp rise from the adjusted figure of $32 million in April of the previous year. This downturn was primarily attributed to a substantial rise in the goods trade deficit, which escalated to $995 million from $531 million in April 2024. Additionally, the primary income deficit grew to $413 million, up from $317 million. At the same time, there was a narrowing of the services surplus to $148 million, down from $286 million, and a reduction in the secondary income surplus to $476 million compared to $530 million.
