Mongolia Inflation Rate at 7-Month Low

In June 2025, Mongolia's annual inflation rate slightly decreased to 8.2%, down from 8.3% the previous month. This represents the lowest inflation rate since November 2024. The slowdown in inflation is largely due to the moderation in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which saw a minor reduction from 3.8% to 3.7%. Additionally, there was a notable decrease in inflation for housing and utilities, falling from 21.5% to 21%, as well as for furnishings, household equipment, and tools, which moved from 6.7% to 6.5%. Transport costs saw a slight dip from 4.5% to 4.3%, and the prices in the restaurant and hotel sector dropped from 14% to 12.1%.

Conversely, the prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, health services, education, insurance and financial services, and miscellaneous goods and services remained stable, with inflation rates of 5.6%, 5.1%, 18.2%, 15.3%, and 10.7%, respectively. However, there was a slight uptick in the inflation rates for clothing and footwear, which edged up to 9.1% from 9.0%, and recreation and culture, which increased from 5.5% to 6.2%. On a monthly basis, the consumer prices remained steady at an increase of 0.2% in June, mirroring the growth rate observed in May.
