Spain experienced an improvement in its current account surplus, reaching €6.44 billion in May 2025, compared to €6.40 billion in May 2024. This represents the highest surplus recorded, primarily due to an expansion in the goods and services surplus, which increased to €9.31 billion from €9.20 billion in the previous year. Furthermore, there was a reduction in the primary and secondary income deficit, which decreased to €2.88 billion from €2.80 billion.
