Denmark Manufacturing Output Slows in July

In July 2025, Denmark experienced a 1.2% increase in manufacturing production compared to the previous month, where there was a notably stronger 3.4% rise. The deceleration in growth can largely be attributed to decreased output in certain sectors. Transport equipment production fell by 2.7% after a substantial 12.1% increase in June, while the chemical and oil refinery sector saw a 2.6% decline, compared to a 2.9% rise the previous month. Additionally, the furniture and other manufacturing sectors experienced a minor drop of 0.5%, following a 4.7% gain in June. The wood, paper products, and printing sectors also observed a decrease of 5%, further deepening from a previous decline of 0.7%. Machinery growth, although still positive at 3.7%, slowed significantly from a robust 15.2% in the previous month. However, there were some areas of recovery: electronic components rebounded with a 2.7% increase compared to a 2.9% decline previously; food products, beverages, and tobacco grew by 1.6% against a previous 1.8% decrease; and plastic, glass, and concrete production rose by 0.5%, following a prior 1.1% fall. On an annual basis, when not adjusted for seasonal variations, manufacturing output fell by 7.2% in July, marking the seventh consecutive month of decline, following a downwardly adjusted 2.7% decrease in June.
