Lithuania Inflation Rate Rises to 4-Month High

Lithuania experienced an increase in its annual inflation rate, which reached 4.0% in August 2025, up from 3.8% in July. This represents the highest inflation rate since April. The acceleration in prices was notably seen in the categories of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 6.0% from 5.5% in July. Similarly, the cost of alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased to 8.2% from 7.3%, and there was a rise in prices for housing and utilities to 1.5% compared to 1.0% previously. A recovery in prices was also observed in clothing and footwear, moving to 0.1% from a previous decline of -0.1%. Restaurant and hotel prices held steady at 6.9%. However, there was a moderation in inflation for communications, decreasing to 2.4% from 3.1%, recreation and culture, down to 4.9% from 5.5%, and miscellaneous goods and services, which eased to 2.8% from 3.3%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in August, marking the first decrease since May, following a stable 0% in July.
