Industrial production in Mauritius experienced a growth of 1.7% year-on-year during the second quarter of 2025. This represents a deceleration from the previous quarter’s seven-period high growth of 2.6%. The slowdown was predominantly attributed to a decrease in the mining and quarrying sector, which saw a decline of 2.4% compared to an increase of 2.2% in the first quarter. Furthermore, the growth in manufacturing production eased slightly to 1.5% from 1.8%, while the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector also saw a reduced growth rate of 5.4%, down from 8.9%. Conversely, the sector encompassing water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services saw an acceleration in activity, with growth picking up to 1% from 0.1%. On a quarterly basis, industrial output expanded by 5% in Q2 2025, recovering from an 18.3% decline in the previous period.
