Namibia GDP Growth Continues to Slow in Q2

In the second quarter of 2025, Namibia's economy experienced a growth rate of 1.6% year-on-year, slowing from a revised 2.8% increase in the preceding quarter. This represented the most sluggish growth observed since a 3.5% decline in the first quarter of 2021, mainly due to underperformance in the manufacturing sector, which fell by 9.7% compared to a 1.3% decrease in the first quarter. Additionally, the fishing sector saw a decline of 4.4%, improving slightly from a 7.3% drop, while agriculture and forestry contracted by 3.5%, a recovery from a steep decline of 20.1%. Other sectors also experienced slower output, notably administrative and support services, which grew by just 0.9% compared to 5.7% previously; the health sector, which increased by 3% compared to an earlier 11.4% rise; transport and storage, up by 1.1% versus 4.6%; and real estate and professional services, which grew by 1.6% following a 2.1% increase in the previous period.
