In September 2025, the influx of foreign tourists to Sri Lanka witnessed a remarkable increase of 30.2% compared to the same month the previous year, reaching a total of 158,971 visitors. This follows a 20.4% increase observed in August. Notably, this figure represents the highest September tourist arrivals ever recorded, exceeding the previous peak achieved in 2018. India maintained its position as the leading source market, accounting for 31.1% of arrivals, with the United Kingdom contributing 6.8% and China 6.6%. Over the first nine months of the year, foreign tourist arrivals rose by 16.2% from the corresponding period last year, totaling 1,725,494 visitors. However, on a month-to-month comparison, there was a 19.8% decline in visitor numbers.
