In August 2025, Moldova experienced a trade deficit of USD 556.6 million, a noticeable increase from the USD 463.3 million deficit recorded in the same month the previous year. Annually, exports surged by 22% to reach USD 332.6 million. This boost was largely attributed to greater shipments to the EU, which increased by 29.8%, a 5.4% rise to CIS countries, and a 2.9% increment to other countries. On the import side, there was a 20.8% increase, amounting to USD 889.2 million. Imports from the EU grew by 26.7%, and those from other countries rose by 16.7%; however, imports from CIS countries saw a slight decrease of 1.6%. Analyzing the period from January to August, Moldova's trade deficit widened substantially to USD 4,631.1 million, compared to USD 3,502.5 million during the same timeframe the previous year.
