New Zealand’s annual food inflation accelerated to 4.6% in January 2026, up from an eight-month low of 4% in December, marking the first pickup in price growth since October. Grocery prices overall increased by 4%, driven in part by an 8.9% jump in meat, poultry, and fish. White bread prices surged 57.9%, while takeaway coffee became 6.6% more expensive.
