Portuguese consumer confidence weakened slightly at the start of 2026, extending its stay in negative territory. According to the latest data updated on 29 January 2026, the consumer confidence indicator eased to -14.70 in January 2026, down from -14.50 recorded in December 2025.
The marginal decline suggests that Portuguese households remained cautious about the economic outlook as the new year began. While the movement is small, the indicator’s further dip below zero continues to signal a prevailing sense of pessimism among consumers regarding current conditions and future expectations in Portugal’s economy.
