Latvia’s retail sector weakened at the end of 2025, with retail sales falling 0.80% month-on-month in December, according to data updated on 29 January 2026. The decline follows a marginal 0.10% increase in November 2025, highlighting a setback in consumer activity during the key holiday period.
On a month-over-month basis, the latest figure reflects a clear deterioration in momentum: while November’s reading showed almost flat but still positive growth compared with October, December’s negative result points to a pullback versus November. The data suggest Latvian consumers became more cautious at year-end, as the retail sector moved from slight expansion into contraction over the final two months of 2025.
