The Czech Republic’s budget balance moved sharply back into positive territory at the start of 2026, posting a surplus of 32.4 billion CZK in January. This marks a significant turnaround from December 2025, when the budget recorded a deep deficit of 290.7 billion CZK.
The latest data, updated on 2 February 2026, highlight a pronounced monthly shift in the country’s fiscal position, as the government transitioned from a substantial year-end shortfall to a positive balance at the beginning of the new year.
