Mexico’s manufacturing sector showed a marginal easing of its downturn at the start of 2026, as the S&P Global Manufacturing PMI inched up to 46.30 in January from 46.10 in December 2025.
Despite the uptick, the index remained below the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction, indicating that operating conditions in the country’s manufacturing industry continued to deteriorate, albeit at a slightly slower pace. The latest data, updated on 03 February 2026, suggest that while the sector is still under pressure, the modest improvement could hint at stabilizing sentiment heading into the rest of the year.
