Swedish Household Confidence Cools Sharply in December, Signalling Softer Consumer Outlook

Sweden’s household confidence decelerated notably in December 2025, pointing to a more cautious mood among consumers at the end of the year. The year-over-year change in the indicator eased to 0.50%, down from 4.60% in November 2025, according to data updated on 10 February 2026.

Both figures measure how much household confidence changed compared with the same month a year earlier. While November showed a relatively strong improvement versus November 2024, December’s reading indicates that the pace of recovery in sentiment has slowed markedly compared with December 2024.

The sharp month-to-month drop in the year-over-year rate suggests Swedish households may be turning more guarded in their expectations and spending plans, a shift that could have implications for consumption-driven growth if the softer confidence persists into 2026.
