Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up to 3.36% in January 2026 from 3.35% in December, reaching its highest level since April 2025. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 2,000 from the previous month to 396,000, including 88,000 new jobseekers. At the same time, total employment increased by 40,000 to 11.65 million. Among people aged 20 to 24, the jobless rate eased to 11.62% from 11.75% in December. The labor force participation rate edged up to 59.61% in January 2026, compared with 59.59% a month earlier.
