Mexico Consumer Sentiment Remains Weak

Mexico’s consumer confidence index rose to 44.4 in February 2026 from a downwardly revised 44.1 in January, remaining firmly in pessimistic territory. Household-related indicators showed only marginal gains: the current ability to purchase durable goods stayed weak at 30.5, the assessment of the current household situation was broadly unchanged at 50.7 (vs. 50.4), and expectations for the household situation in the next 12 months edged down to 56.2 (vs. 56.6). Perceptions of the broader economy also remained subdued, with the current assessment at 39.9 (vs. 39.0) and economic expectations at 45.0 (vs. 44.1).
