Italy’s HICP Inflation Accelerates to 1.6% YoY in February 2026

Italy’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose to 1.6% year-over-year in February 2026, up from 1.0% in January 2026, according to data updated on 3 March 2026. The figure marks a noticeable acceleration in consumer price growth on the EU-harmonised measure.

Both the current and previous readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s price levels to the same month a year earlier. The rise from 1.0% in January to 1.6% in February indicates that inflationary pressures in Italy strengthened at the start of 2026, after a more subdued pace at the beginning of the year.

The February outcome will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers tracking inflation trends in the euro area, as Italy’s HICP is a key component in assessing broader price dynamics within the currency bloc.
