FX.co ★ Romania Inflation Eases in February

Romania’s annual inflation rate eased to 9.3% in February 2026 from 9.6% in January, coming in slightly below market expectations of 9.4%. Price growth in services slowed to 11.37% from 11.59%, with notable decelerations in water supply, sewage and refuse collection (17.21% vs 17.59%), medical care (12.59% vs 13.16%), hygiene and cosmetics (15.94% vs 17.75%), and urban transport (10.02% vs 11.23%). Inflation in non-food goods also rose at a more moderate pace (9.41% vs 9.99%). By contrast, food prices accelerated marginally, with annual inflation in food products edging up to 7.89% from 7.86%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.59% in February, slowing from a 0.86% rise in the previous month.
