Austria’s producer prices were unchanged year-on-year in March 2026, after falling 1.4% in February. The overall stabilization came as energy prices continued to decline, though at a slower pace (-1.7% vs -6.0% in February). Price growth accelerated for intermediate goods (1.2% vs 0.4%), and capital goods also posted a slightly stronger increase (0.2% vs 0.1%). In contrast, inflation for consumer goods eased to 0.8%, down from 1.0% in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 1.4% in March, picking up sharply from a 0.1% increase in February. The advance was mainly driven by higher costs in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (1.6%), as well as in basic metals (1.6%). These gains more than offset price declines in pharmaceutical products and preparations (-0.9%) and in machinery and equipment (-0.1%).
