Indonesia’s economy strengthened at the start of 2026, with year-over-year GDP growth rising to 5.61% in the first quarter, up from 5.39% in the fourth quarter of 2025.
According to the latest data, updated on 05 May 2026, the current figure reflects an improvement in the annual growth rate compared with the previous reading. Both the current and previous indicators measure GDP growth on a year-over-year basis, comparing each quarter’s performance with the same period a year earlier.
The acceleration from 5.39% to 5.61% suggests that Indonesia entered 2026 with slightly stronger economic momentum than at the end of 2025, indicating a modest but clear pickup in growth on an annual comparison basis.
