Malaysia’s June Inflation Eases Slightly to 1.9% Year-on-Year

Malaysia’s consumer price inflation edged down in June 2026, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 1.9% year-on-year, compared with a 2.0% increase in May 2026.

The latest data, updated on 17 July 2026, show that price pressures remained contained on an annual basis. The June reading reflects the change in prices compared with June a year earlier, while May’s figure captured the year-over-year change for that month.

The marginal easing from 2.0% to 1.9% underlines a relatively stable inflation backdrop in Malaysia heading into the second half of 2026, with no indication of a sharp acceleration in consumer prices based on the latest year-over-year comparisons.
