Mexico Consumer Confidence Rises to 9-Month High

Mexico’s consumer confidence index rose to 45.0 in July 2026 from 43.8 in June, reaching its highest level since October 2025, though overall sentiment remained in negative territory. Households were slightly more optimistic about their current financial situation, with that sub-index edging up to 51.8 from 51.2, while views on the current state of the economy improved to 39.4 from 37.5 but stayed pessimistic. Looking ahead, expectations for the economy over the next 12 months strengthened to 45.7 from 43.7, yet still remained below the neutral 50-point threshold. Expectations for households’ future financial situation stayed in positive territory, rising to 57.1 from 56.4. At the same time, willingness to make major purchases increased to 31.1 from 30.0, continuing to indicate weak spending appetite. On a yearly basis, the headline consumer confidence index stood 0.7 points below its July 2025 level.
