FX.co ★ Canada Imports Hit Record High

Canada’s goods imports in June 2026 edged up 0.2% month over month to a record C$73.6 billion, even as 9 of the 11 major product categories declined. The overall increase was fuelled by an 11.7% rise in imports of electronic and electrical equipment and parts, driven in particular by a 59% surge in computers and computer peripherals to an all-time high. This reflected significantly higher purchases of processing units from the United States. These gains more than offset declines in industrial machinery, equipment and parts (-3.3%), consumer goods (-1.3%), and metal ores and non-metallic minerals (-3.4%). Excluding electronic and electrical equipment and parts, total imports would have fallen 1.3% in June.
