European Stocks Set for Positive Open

European equity markets were poised to open slightly higher on Tuesday, extending the previous session’s gains after an AI-driven rally on Wall Street bolstered optimism over semiconductor demand. The advance in US stocks followed renewed enthusiasm for Meta’s AI agent, Muse, which helped ease concerns about a potential slowdown in AI development and underpinned expectations for continued strong demand for the chips that power such technologies.

Market sentiment was further supported by anticipation of a possible summit later this week between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, as well as hopes for talks between Trump, his Iranian counterpart, and other Gulf leaders.

In Europe, investors will be watching UK public sector borrowing figures and Spain’s latest trade data, alongside corporate earnings from British firms Smiths and Kingfisher. In premarket action, futures on both the Euro Stoxx 50 and the Stoxx 600 were up around 0.1%.
