According to Italy's National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), the country's unemployment rate has increased to a three-month high in February. Contrary to expectations of a decrease to 7.2 percent, the unemployment rate escalated to 7.5 percent. In the months of January and December, the rate was steady at 7.3 percent, which was slightly lower than the 7.8 percent recorded in February 2023.
Simultaneously, there has been a marginal increase in the employment rate, rising from 61.8 percent to 61.9 percent in February. Unfortunately, the data also showcased a significant rise in youth unemployment. It was registered at 22.8 percent in February, up from 22.1 percent in the previous month.
