The Swiss market saw a slight uptick on Monday, maintaining a tight range just above the flat line for the entirety of the session. Investors showed a hesitant stance, awaiting vital economic data, such as UK and US inflation reports and GDP figures from various countries.
The benchmark SMI closed at 11,873.71, gaining 7.78 points or 0.07%, fluctuating between 11,867.32 and 11,935.33 throughout the day.
Logitech International surged by nearly 2%, while Richemont saw an increase of roughly 1.25%. Other notable gainers included Partners Group, Julius Baer, Zurich Insurance Group, Straumann Holding, Swiss Life Holding, and ABB, each advancing by 0.5% to 1%.
Swisscom, UBS Group, and Kuehne + Nagel recorded modest gains.
Conversely, Lonza Group declined by 1.8%. Both Lindt & Sprüngli and Sonova saw reductions of slightly over 1.5%, while Alcon and Givaudan decreased by 1.12%. Geberit and SIG Group also experienced downturns.
In corporate news, Sandoz announced that its biosimilar Enzeevu has received FDA approval for use as an intravitreal injection to treat neovascular age-related macular degeneration. Nonetheless, Sandoz shares edged down marginally.
