Market participants are particularly interested in Trump's address, which may offer insights into possible tax cuts and tariff policies.
Earlier in the session, the FTSE 100 index reached a high of 8,530.07 and is currently up by 9.35 points, or 0.11%, at 8,514.57.
Hiscox is seeing an increase of over 2.5%, with Fresnillo appreciating 2%. Other companies like LondonMetric Property, Experian, RightMove, Pershing Square Holdings, Spirax-Sarco Engineering, JD Sports Fashion, IAG, and Compass Group are registering gains between 1% and 1.5%.
In contrast, Melrose Industries, Kingfisher, Beazley, National Grid, IMI, BAE Systems, Endeavour Mining, Barclays Group, Rolls-Royce Holdings, and Mondi are showing modest increases ranging from 0.5% to 1%.
On the downside, Entain is down 1.6%, and WPP has decreased by 1.1%. Other companies, including Rentokil Initial, F&C Investment Trust, Taylor Wimpey, Howden Joinery, Associated British Foods, British Land Company, and Land Securities, are experiencing declines of 0.7% to 1%.
