Serbia Inflation Rate Ticks Down to 4.4%

In March 2025, Serbia's annual inflation rate experienced a slight decline to 4.4% from February's 4.5%, deviating slightly from market expectations of 4.45%. The deceleration in price growth was particularly notable in sectors such as transport, which dropped to 1.3% from 2.3% in February. Similarly, furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance saw a reduction to 5.9% from 6.3%, while sectors like communication decreased to 1.6% from 4.5%. Other areas, including recreation and culture, restaurants and hotels, and miscellaneous goods and services, also witnessed declines in their growth rates, registering at 3.9% (down from 4.5%), 8.7% (down from 9%), and 3.7% (down from 4.1%), respectively. Conversely, there was an uptick in the costs of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 4.8% from the previous 4.3%, and housing and utilities, which edged up to 3.6% from 3.4%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a modest increase of 0.1% in March, softening from the 0.5% rise observed in February and falling short of the anticipated 0.3% growth.
