Germany's DAX index edged up by 0.2% to approximately 24,670 on Friday, positioning itself for a potential record high and recording its fourth consecutive day of gains. The international and geopolitical environment remains in focus, particularly with the ongoing situation in France and a reduction in tensions in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the U.S. government shutdown, now extending into its second week, is causing delays in releasing vital economic data, including the September employment figures, which may impact the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decisions. On the corporate front, the automotive and banking sectors performed robustly. Mercedes-Benz Group led the advancement, increasing nearly 3%, while Porsche Automobil and Volkswagen each rose by over 1%, bouncing back from previous losses tied to Ferrari's decline. Commerzbank increased by around 1% and Deutsche Bank rose by 0.4%. Conversely, the key decliners included MTU Aero Engines, which fell by 1.7%, Siemens Energy, which decreased by 1.6%, and Rheinmetall, which dropped by 0.9%. For the week, the DAX was on track to climb by more than 1%.
