In October 2025, Cyprus experienced a 0.30% year-on-year decrease in consumer prices, a slight improvement from the 0.70% decline observed in the previous month. This represents the sixth month in a row of deflation. The decline in prices eased particularly in segments such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, which saw a dip of 2.14% compared to 2.76% in September; clothing and footwear priced lower at 6.74% compared to 7.25%; and housing-related expenses, including water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, which decreased by 1.08%, down from 2.29%. Furnishings, household equipment, and supplies saw prices rise by 0.98%, an increase from a decline of 1.22% the month before, while transport sector prices diminished by 0.38% following a 0.97% fall in September. Conversely, price growth picked up in areas such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco, rising to 0.33% from 0.11%; education costs went up by 3.48% as opposed to 3.40%; and restaurant and hotel prices climbed to 4.44% from 4.40%. Meanwhile, the rate of price increases slowed in health, easing to 1.20% from 1.39%, recreation and culture dropped to 2.07% from 3.31%, and miscellaneous goods and services decreased to 0.60% versus 1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices increased by 0.5% in October 2025, marginally lower than the 0.6% growth recorded in the prior period.
