Sweden’s Manufacturing PMI Slips in July, Signalling Moderation in Factory Activity

Sweden’s manufacturing sector showed signs of cooling in July 2026, as the country’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) eased to 55.8 from 58.0 in June 2026. The latest reading, released on 03 August 2026, indicates that while activity in the sector continues to expand, the pace of growth has slowed compared with the previous month.

Despite the decline, the PMI remains comfortably above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, suggesting that Swedish manufacturers are still experiencing overall growth. However, the drop from June’s level may reflect softer demand, emerging capacity constraints, or a normalisation following earlier robust gains in output and orders.

The July data will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers as they assess the durability of Sweden’s industrial momentum in the second half of 2026, particularly in the context of global economic uncertainty and shifting trade conditions.
