Malaysia’s unemployment rate held at 3.0% in June 2026, unchanged for the third consecutive month and remaining at its highest level since October 2025. The number of unemployed persons edged up to 517.8 thousand from 513.4 thousand in May, signaling ongoing softness in the labor market. Total employment was broadly stable at 16.83 million, while the labor force was unchanged at 17.34 million, keeping the labor force participation rate steady at 70.9%. The number of individuals outside the labor force was also little changed, at 7.11 million.
