Slovenia’s annual inflation rate climbed to 3.3% in September 2026, up from 3.0% in August, marking the third straight month of rising inflation. The increase was driven mainly by a sharp acceleration in housing and utilities inflation, which rose to 8.8% from 8.1%. Transport inflation also remained elevated, though it eased to 3.6% from 4.7%.
Additional upward pressure came from higher inflation in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.9% vs. 4.5%), clothing and footwear (0.5% vs. 0.1%), and health (1.6% vs. 1.5%). Food prices stayed in deflation, but the rate of decline slowed to 0.7% from 1.0%.
By contrast, inflation weakened in insurance and financial services (3.5% vs. 3.8%), furnishings (0.6% vs. 0.7%), and recreation, sport and culture (3.8% vs. 5.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices slipped 0.1% in September, after rising 0.1% in August.
