Over the past eight years, the total income of US President Donald Trump has increased nearly fourfold, reaching $2.24 billion. According to The New York Times, while his financial empire was primarily built on real estate and golf clubs, generating around $528 million of a total $594 million during his first presidential term in 2017, the structure of his business drastically transformed by his second term.
The main drivers of this income growth have been digital assets. Family-owned cryptocurrency company World Liberty Financial generated approximately $800 million, while Trump’s own meme coin, TRUMP, contributed an additional $636 million to his budget. In contrast, the traditional real estate and golf sectors grew by only 4%, accounting for less than a quarter of total revenue. Moreover, about $125 million of this figure came from overseas projects, including those in the Middle East. Additional sources of income involved global settlements amounting to $117 million and sales of branded merchandise, from books and Bibles to watches, adding another $17 million.
Trump’s rapid wealth accumulation occurs amid reports of difficulties in fulfilling his campaign promises. Experts point to the administration’s struggle to significantly increase factory jobs and improve the situation for the middle class, as the US labor force continues to shrink due to an aging native population and a general labor shortage.
