Opinions of the US President and the Senate on various topics still differ. Neither Republicans, nor Democrats support most Donald Trump’s decisions. Even if the President is really keen to fulfill his election campaign promises, he simply cannot do it. Yet another Trump’s initiative met the wall of misunderstanding.
It is about a non-existent but already legendary wall separating the US and Mexico. The wall construction still remains a promise and, given the number of those opposing this project, the wall is likely to be only imaginary. Several Democrats wrote a letter to their Republican counterparts expressing their concerns over “a very expensive, ineffective new wall.” The key reason behind officials’ discontent is $70 billion needed for the project realization. The Senate believes that this sum can be used more reasonably – to upgrade security systems or introduce new technologies on the border, for example.
Besides, the Parliament considers Trump’s proposal to cut spending on protection from terrorism and increase spending on migrant deportation a mistake. According to lawmakers, such a step will damage the country’s economy and hurt the nation’s values.
