War has been declared on the US currency again! Apparently, joke time is over, as the President of Russia personally threw down a challenge to the greenback. Vladimir Putin considers that the objective of the Russian economy is breaking free from the dollar as the primary necessity. It is still difficult to explain what exactly stands behind this demand, but such actions, according to the President, correspond to the basic principles of economic sovereignty.
It is hardly possible to fully get rid of the dollar on a unilateral basis. The Russian economy is commodity-based and completely dependent on exports, but on the world stage, no one is going to refuse from the dollar, which means that for the international calculations, it will still be necessary to use the annoying currency. On the other hand, they say that the President does not waste words, and if he has promised something, he will certainly do it. Especially for such radical measures, there are more than enough reasons. During the State Duma's plenary session, the President said that they had been naive earlier, and now they see that the WTO rules were often violated, the restrictions were related to the political reasons, which are called sanctions. Moreover, he added that new ones were being introduced to ensure the competitive advantage.
Putin recalls that oil is traded on the exchange in dollars, and Russia needs to disburden, since the dollar monopoly is unreliable and dangerous. But an alternative to the American currency was not offered by the President. In general, the task for the Government is set, now they just have to find an optimal solution.
