Samsung Electronics has seized the opportunity to make money on the crisis. South Korea's largest company has introduced portable ultraviolet sterilizers for smartphones to meet a growing need for mobile device sanitization amid the virus outbreak. The tech giant claims that its sterilizer could disinfect various devices in 10 minutes. The gadget is able to kill up to 99% of bacteria and germs with the help of ultraviolet light. In addition, the UV sterilizer features wireless charging for smartphones. The retail price in South Korea is $40. However, this is not the only invention of the company's developers during the pandemic. The company has recently registered a patent called “antimicrobial coating” for cases and covers for smartphones and tablets. Moreover, it is about to start mass production of the new product.
Earlier, South Korea's authorities confirmed that the country was in the midst of a second wave of coronavirus infections. As the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to grow, the government is expected to tighten preventive measures throughout the country. In particular, it intends to introduce a three-level social distancing scheme.
